A Chip Off The Old Block

A Chip Off The Old Block

( the child who is similar to his parent … )

A chip off the old block is the child who is similar to the parent. Example: \”Did you meet Bill\’s son at the picnic yesterday? He\’s just like Bill!\” Reply: \”He\’s a chip off the old block.\”

When the son (or daughter) is in some way very similar to the father (or mother), we say he is a chip off the old block.
